SPOKANE-- An East Spokane business is offering a big reward for a very small theft.

The owners say they are angry after someone stole their doormat, worth about $20. Now Advanced Metal Technologies, near Trent and Freya, is offering $1,000 as a reward for information on who took it.

Owners say it’s all about the fact that they were robbed and their refusal to take it lying down. They are wondering why anybody would want their doormat. They figure it takes about as much effort to steal it as it would  to buy one.

It happened around 8:30 pm Sunday. Nothing else from the business was taken, just the mat.  The owner says he’s had problems with people trying and failing to break in before.

He installed a video camera and even put a sign in the window letting thieves know they are under surveillance.

You can see in the video the thief drives by, checks out the place and then gets out of his truck. He then looks in the windows and grabs the doormat. The owner is hoping the thief’s friends will turn him in for the money.
