SPOKANE, Wash. --  Authorities released a suspect on Monday who was accused of a deadly shooting near a North Spokane hotel.

Joshua Smith, 30, was released and the charges were dropped by Monday afternoon according to law enforcement. Police said the charges were dropped when additional information surfaced.

Police had previously arrested Smith and recommended he be charged with Second Degree Murder. Officers said it appeared that Smith shot Richard C. Amodio, 32, during a fight over marijuana. The victim was found in the Howard Johnson parking lot early Sunday morning. Monday morning, officers had said Smith and the victim knew each other beforehand.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner completed Amodio's autopsy on Monday. He died from a gunshot wound to the torso according to the Medical Examiner.
