Seattle police say two masked, armed men opened fire Tuesday night after mugging several people near the Columbia City light rail station.
A 21-year-old woman and 13-year-old girl had just gotten off the train around 10:15 p.m. in the 5000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. when, police say, the two men ran up behind them. The men showed guns and demanded the victims’ purses, then ran away.
The men then allegedly approached a 50-year-old man who had also gotten off the train. They pointed the gun at the man and demanded the cellphone he was using. Police say the victim didn’t think the gun was real and scolded the suspects for interrupting his call.
The suspects then ran to a silver car with large chrome rims, fired two shots in the air, and drove away.
The suspects were described as black, between 16 and 20-years-old, at least 5-feet 2-inches tall. They wore hooded sweatshirts and had their t-shirts pulled up to cover their faces.
