SPOKANE, Wash. -- Federal investigators said women with ties to a Los Angeles gang smuggled about 10,000 pills a week through the Spokane Airport. They said this went on for several years.

Local and federal drug agents busted the oxycodone ring in March of 2013.

Federal prosecutors said many of the suspects are active gang members.

Dealers sold the prescription painkillers in Spokane and the cash was flown back to California. Investigators said the women hid between 2,000 and 3,000 pills on their bodies on each trip.
