Police accused him of being a violent sex predator, who has kidnapped and assaulted two women.
Bryon Johnston, 35, appeared in court Wednesday, showing little emotion. The husband and father of four lives in a quiet Dupont neighborhood and, according to police, works for Orowheat as a delivery truck driver.
But detectives believe twice in the last four months he offered rides to young women at downtown Olympia bus stops in broad daylight. He drove them behind the abandoned Bailey’s Motor Inn, where he held them by their hair, and assaulted them.
Both victims fought him off and escaped his white SUV.
Police found evidence at the scene, two Starbucks cups that they believe fell out of his car. They traced the cups back to the restaurant, and used surveillance footage to identify him. He has a previous conviction for solicitation.
Detectives arrested him leaving his home for work Tuesday morning. His wife had no comment when contacted at the home. Police do not believe she knew of the attacks.
Besides driving a white Cadillac Escalade, he also owns a blue Ford F-350, and now they're looking for other victims who may have been too scared to come forward.
