SANDPOINT, Idaho -- The Idaho Court of Appeals has upheld the sentence handed down to a north Idaho man convicted in a violent and fatal rampage in Bayview nearly three years ago.
Larry Cragun was convicted of first-degree murder and other violent crimes for his attack that left one person dead and injured three others.
A judge sentenced the 33-year-old Cragun to life on the murder charge and fixed 15-year terms on the other felonies. Cragun must also serve at least 30 years before being eligible for parole.
Cragun appealed his case on grounds his sentences were excessive. At his sentencing hearing, Cragun claimed the attack was tied to improper treatment of his mental illness.
But the Bonner County Daily Bee reports the judges deemed the sentence reasonable under judicial review standards.
