POST FALLS, Idaho -- A brief standoff near the Saint Vincent DePaul apartment complex ended peacefully.
Police arrested two people and put four kids into protective custody around 4:30 p.m. along West 7th.
The standoff began as a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the driver of the car tried to flee in his vehicle. The unarmed man eventually ditched the vehicle and ran to his apartment, according to police.
Officers said the man hid in his attic for about an hour before surrendering.
Authorities arrested the man and his girlfriend (for charges of harboring a suspect).
Four children were placed into protective custody.
