SPOKANE, Wash. -- Two of the 5 children of Clay Starbuck testified in court Tuesday during the murder trial of their mother and Clay’s ex-wife.
Starbuck’s youngest child testified that his dad is a great guy and said that he took good care of the family.
He told the jury his mom took the kids to school the day she died and his oldest brother Austin picked them up. Clay had told detectives he couldn’t drive the kids because his car broke down. He also said he saw his dad that day covered in dirt and oil from fixing the car.
The boy also recalled going to his mom’s house the day after she died to check on her but they never went inside because they didn’t have garage openers.
Clay’s other son, Blake, also took the stand. He previously told KREM 2 News that he didn’t have a great relationship with his mother and that he lived with his dad. The last time he saw his mother was nearly 3 months before she died.
All of the Starbuck children are certain their dad had nothing to do with killing their mother.
The oldest son, Austin, now has custody of all his siblings.
