SPOKANE--  Some might say the liquor sales business is a crowded field but both new and old stores in Spokane have an approach to help them stand out.

Total Wine and More has more than 80 stores across the country and its third in Washington opened in North Spokane Friday.

Customers were already filling the store on its first day.  The new store has eight thousand wines and three thousand different spirits. It also promises to provide the best prices in town.

Stores like Good Spirits in the 5 Mile area said it's not just about quantity but quality.

They've been open for about two months and are part of a small chain owned and operated in Washington. Staff hope people appreciate a local business that they feel is easier to manage and more personable.

Good Spirits said they try to stand out by hosting local events and so far it’s working.

Newcomer Total Wine and More said they're focused on providing a service that meets customers' standards.

Both North Spokane stores face competition from other retailers that can sell hard alcohol but each expects to be a destination attracting customers from across our area.
