SPOKANE, Wash.—There is a new dealing coming to Spokane for frequent travelers. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at the Spokane International Airport is offering a pre-check program that allowed passengers to bypass some of the check-in steps in June.

Passengers no longer had to take off their shoes or unpack bags just to get to their gate with the pre-check program.

The program comes with a fee. Participants can get a five-year membership for $85 in Spokane Valley. Passengers bring their ID and documentation to the enrollment center several weeks before their flight. Fingerprints and information are submitted for a risk-analysis and criminal background check. It is a process for people to essentially be pre-cleared for TSA security screening.

Approved participants will be given a traveler number once. Agents are alerted of your pre-check status when you are at the airport and your boarding pass it scanned. You are then ushered into an often shorter, pre-check security line.
