Cyberattacks blocked at local URM stores

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Shoppers at URM-supplied stores can safely use credit and debit cards again, according to the company.

URM announced Monday night it had completed security measures to prevent hacking of its payment processing system.

A week earlier, customers at Rosauers, Super One, Yokes, and other stores were asked to pay in cash or check following a widespread credit card fraud attack. Some stores did set up an alternate option for people who chose to pay with cards.  The process just took a bit longer at check out.

URM’s CEO said he was grateful for customers’ patience and understanding during the ordeal.

The extra security won't protect customers who used their cards at the stores prior to Nov. 25. Officials stressed that anyone who used a credit or debit card at URM-affiliated stores prior to that date should pay close attention to their bank statements.
