SPOKANE-- Homeowners in Spokane keep seeing mystery Craigslist posts advertising their house as a rental. Suspects find the listing put it up on the web and wait for victims.
There are hundreds of ads to sift through on craigslist, but realtors say don't trust the ones that seem like they could be a steal.
Kelly Montayne's house is on the market but a few weeks ago it was listed somewhere else. Her realtor found it on craigslist.
Montayne says the post advertised her house for $600 a month.
When she emailed the person who posted the ad, they wrote back thanking her for her interest and telling her how to send them money.
Montayne says the ad is down, but she keeps checking for it to reappear.
Realtors say cases like this keep popping up all over the country and all sides need to be vigilant.
Agents say don't ever send money to someone who you can't meet in person and always ask to see the property first.
If you're selling your house they recommend google-ing your address from time to time to see where it's posted.
