SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Several nonprofit groups are holding a Lowcountry workshop for homeowners in danger of defaulting on their mortgages or worried they may fall behind on their payments.

The Dorchester Prosperity Center in Summerville is holding the Wednesday event working with the Trident United Way, Palmetto Goodwill and Family Services, Inc.

Homeowners in danger of default will be able to meet with advisers.

Homeowners may qualify for mortgage modifications and bringing past mortgage payments current. They may also qualify for lower interest rates and payments.
