PORTLAND -- Five Portland bars made the Top 100 Best Beer Bars list in Draft Magazine's 2014 survey.
This is the list's sixth year and the editors decided it was time to look beyond bars that have "a zillion taps."
"We needed to walk out of these places saying, 'Now there’s a bar that really, really cares about your experience with beer,'" the editors said.
Five Portland watering holes made the list, but only one earned a special shout-out in the intro for its attention to detail.
"We want you to go to Bailey’s Taproom in Portland, Ore. (213 SW Broadway), which cares so much about beer freshness, the digital menu says when each keg was tapped and how much is left," the survey said.
The other four Portland bars on the list:
- Bazi Bierbrasserie, 1522 SE 32nd Ave.
- Belmont Station, 4500 SE Stark St.
- Imperial Bottle Shop & Taproom, 3090 SE Division St.
- Saraveza Bottle Shop & Pasty Tavern, 1004 N. Killingsworth St.
The list was not ranked by experienced, but listed alphabetically, as if to say the editors love each place equally.
"We want you to go to all 100 of these places, because they really are a cut above the rest."
