Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11)- What started out as an effort to help polar bears has been scrapped by Coke because of confusion to the consumer.
It is all because Coke changed the color of its can from the iconic red to white.
Consumers are mistaking the white cans for silver cans of Diet Coke and they are not happy.
Some swear the drink in the white can tastes differently than what's in the red can. Coke says that is silly.
Analysts say consumers get conditioned to the packaging of their favorite products, and Coke should have learned by now not to mess with what works.
The change in color is a holiday promotion that was supposed to last until February but due to consumer feedback, the red cans are due back on the shelves next week.
Poor polar bears.
