Coeur d'Alene PD looks for skateboard wielding robbery suspect

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Coeur d’Alene Police are looking for a suspect who hit a man in the head with a skateboard while trying to rob him early Tuesday morning.

Officials said the victim was walking home on North 4th Street around midnight when he was approached by a young man carrying a skateboard. Police said the man demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim refused. As he started walking away, the suspect hit him on the head with his skateboard.  Authorities said the victim was able to run but the suspect followed him for several blocks. He eventually made it to Harvest Foods on Sherman Avenue where employees called police.

The victim described the suspect as a man in his late teens or early 20s and he has darker skin and may be Hispanic. The suspect is about 5’9” tall with a thin build. He was wearing longer dark colored shorts, an unbuttoned light colored floral shirt and a dark colored hat.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Winstead at the Coeur d’Alene Police Department.
