SPOKANE -- Police are on the hunt for a man who robbed a convenience store in Browne's Addition at gunpoint.

It happened just after 9 p.m. at the Sunset Grocery Store on West Sunset Boulevard.  The clerk was not hurt but the robber did get away with some cash.

The suspect was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, camouflage pants and a mask.  He's about six feet tall, in his mid 30's and weighs about 180 pounds.  Police shut down streets around the store while K-9 tried to track the suspect.  Those streets have since been re-opened.

I think anyone who works at these stores, should get a gun permit and use it if needed, it is time to take out these thugs....

While most of these robbers are addicts of some kind, regrettably we are going to find these tragic occurrences are being perpetrated simply by your "average Joe". When people have no money, no options, and are just not quite able to commit suicide, yet, next month's rent and car payment are still bearing down on you. The rich-a** Wall Streeters get bailed out, but the little folk have no such governmental safety net: the insurance companies and bankers do not take food stamps for payment! There are 'resources out there' you say; in fact, no there is not (SNAP paying for one month's utility bill just does not cut it)! I am not trying to make excuses for law-breakers, b/c crime does not pay, but some people are just not built for homelessness and three hots and a cot are, for some, the preferable option. Anybody happen to read this about the rising suicides? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33738656/ns/us_news-the_elkhart_project/ Where are the jobs at?!?

I worked at this store when it was a 7-11 back in the 80's. We had cameras mounted in the ceiling--but they weren't connected to anything! Never got held up, but had to call the cops once-- a kidnapping involving a little kid--within three minutes of me calling 9-11 multiple cop cars showed up.

empyrius, I believe you are right. We'll see more and more of this as things get tougher. The suicide rate is climbing, even see instances of a father taking out the whole family because they are broke....very sad. The other story from today about the 25 yr old that hit a logging wreck head-on makes me feel that it may have been suicide. Just hope it wasn't that.

Yea, that happened just recently right fixerone, the dude killing his entire family?!? I can totally understand suicide, especially if u do not have family or anybody that would be unduly harmed (Me! Me! Har har har . . .), but how 1 gets homicidal, especailly with those one, u would think, loves the most, is simply crazy. I mean, I know he could have thought, "I don't want my children 2 also have to suffer . . .", or he is just plainly selfish 2 the point 2 where he does not want to go out alone, and I am sure there r other thought processes, but, wow, mindlessly tragic. Did u hear about the Goldman-Sachs dude who said that Jesus's injunction 2 love others implicitly justifies greed? http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2009/11/on-invoking-god-to-defend-mammon.html Crazy stuff, the rich man using Jesus 2 justify greed! The "social Darwinism" of today's Christianity resembles nothing I have read in Scripture! B strong sisters and brothers and please, please, do not hurt others: bottom line!
