SPOKANE, Wash. -- The popularity of the Gonzaga game led to a parking problem in downtown Spokane Thursday afternoon.
Bar goers parked in The Globe's parking lot were towed just as the game ended. The parking lot says The Globe, an old bar and grill, is now closed. Those who were towed didn't know why tow trucks took away their cars. Many people admitted to parking in the lot at night with out a problem.
The businesses that use that lot everyday placed notes under windshield wipers to warn that they will be towed. The businesses say just because they park in the lot at night does not mean it's ok during the day. Those who work in the businesses say staff and customers should be the only people parking there because the lot is private.
Sarah McGovern owns some of the space that's attached to former Globe. She says the Gonzaga Game made her parking lot impossible for her patrons to use. They give customers temporary permits and they have posted a number of placards.
A business owner told KREM 2 that until today they had only towed 2 or 3 cars.
