SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. -- Spokane County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man driving erratically early Friday morning down Division.
Deputies say Gerald Ashby, 22, had drove a Chevy Caprice over the median on Division to follow other vehicles when they started to follow him. Then, a passenger was hanging out his window when deputies turn their lights on and the other vehicles fled.
As they approached Division and Francis, the Caprice swerved and went west. The passenger then slid back into the car. Then immediately the car pulled into a parking lot to go south on Divison.
The car reached speeds of 60 to 70 miles per hour. When the Caprice got to about the 5800 block of Division it swerved again to avoid a car and hit the center median, bouncing back across traffic and off the road.
When deputies got to the scene the car had hit a large flower pot in front of a building and the passenger was running.
Deputies say Ashby appeared to be extremely intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with 2nd degree driving with a suspended license, reckless endangerment and driving under the influence.
He was also booked on an active warrant for driving under the influence and driving while license suspended.
