SPOKANE VALLEY— Work begins early Monday to reconstruct and improve Sprague Avenue between Evergreen Road and Sullivan.
Local businesses in the area worried the construction could hurt their bottom line. Owners for Donna’s Diner along Sprague said they are relying on their regulars to survive during the construction.
Construction on the project will happen in four phases. During each phase, a portion of Sprague will be reduced to one lane in each direction. There will also be closures to northbound and southbound intersections.
Crews will rebuild the road-bed, put in a complete sidewalk system, and improve traffic signals. Improvements will also be made to the storm water drainage system.
Work is expected to last 12-13 week, or until mid-August.
