NEAR 4TH OF JULY PASS, Idaho - A tree fell on a woodcutter and killed him near 4th of July Pass late Saturday morning, according to the Kootenai Sheriff's Department.
A group of friends were cutting trees approximately three miles from Interstate 90 near Forest Service Road 614 when a tree that 34-year-old Sonny Von Scherrer of Kingston, ID was felling broke and struck him.
Von Scherrer died from his injuries.
