SPOKANE-- A Spokane homeowner captured video surveillance of a woman stealing his UPS package about five minutes after it was delivered.

It happened on Thursday, Nov. 28.  The homeowner says he was expecting a package, but came home to an empty box on his doorstep instead.  A mailman had set it there with a note saying he’d found the box, empty, a few blocks away.

The homeowner scrolled through his security camera tape and sure enough, found a female thief snatching his package from his doorstep and scurrying back to a van.

This package, ironically, contained a piece of equipment for his security cameras, valued at about fifty dollars.

A UPS spokeswoman says the company trains its drivers to leave packages out of sight so these thieves likely meticulously followed the UPS truck on its route.  UPS says something like that happens every year, especially around the holidays.
