SPOKANE -- A Winter storm warning is in effect for the Okanogan Highlands through 4p.m. Thursday.
The Winter Storm Warning includes the following locations: Republic, Inchelium, Wauconda, Chesaw Road, Highway 20 Wauconda Summit, Boulder Creek Road and Sherman Pass.
Snow will redevelop this morning over the Okanogan Highlands and continue into the afternoon.
Storm total accumulations will range from 3 to 6 inches over valley locations such as Republic, Chesaw and Wauconda. The surrounding mountains will see accumulations ranging from 6 to 10 inches.
Locations below 2,000 feet, including Keller, Inchelium and Boyds will see little of any snow accumulation. The snow will taper off late this afternoon.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Northeast Mountains until 4p.m. Thursday as well.
The advisory includes the following locations: Colville, Deer Park, Chewelah, Newport and Kettle Falls.
KREM 2 News viewer Lee Reed sent in pictures from Colville, around the 2700-foot level, where 7 new inches of snow fell since last night.
The National Weather Service advices snow will develop early this morning and continue into the afternoon. Snow will initially impact all locations, however the snow level will rise to 3,500 feet in the afternoon.
Snow accumulations will generally range from 1 to 3 inches in the valleys impacting the towns of Chewelah, Colville and Metaline Falls.
Snow accumulations over the surrounding mountains will range from 3 to 7 inches. The snow and rain will taper off early this evening.
