SAINT MARIES, Idaho -- A woman who was attacked by her husband before he killed himself is starting to recover from the incident.
Mary McGreal was stabbed by her husband several times in the back of the head, chest, neck and slashing her neck with a Swiss Army Knife on March 3. She was paralyzed on the left side of her body and her spinal cord was damaged. She is getting feeling back and is already out of ICU.
Earlier in the week search crews tried to find the knife McGreal's husband Kurt used during the attack. The Benewah County Sheriff thinks Kurt also cut himself with that knife and threw it in the river.
Last Saturday night, the couple went to a benefit in town were the two were drinking. At the end of the night police say Kurt wanted to drive home and Mary wanted to walk. The couple started arguing about how they were going home around 1:30 a.m. Sunday and they eventually drove home. About a half an hour later a State Police Officer found Mary.
Kurt was later found in the couple's home with a self-inflicted gun shot wound and he died a short time later.
