SPOKANE, Wash. -- A beloved local coach passed away from a terminal illness Saturday.

Linda Sheridan was diagnosed with ALS two years ago.

She graduated from WSU in 1969 and coached at Shadle Park High School in Spokane for 24 years until retiring in1998.

She is known for a huge number of wins during her career at Shadle as both the girls volleyball and basketball coach.  She won seven state championships, including five in volleyball.  Her Shadle girls won the state basketball title in 1988 and 1989.

She was inducted into the Inland Northwest Sports Hall of Fame in 2001, the Washington State University Hall of Fame in 2004 and WIAA Hall of Fame in 2012.

Her career coaching record in both sports was an incredible 820 wins and 214 losses.

The gym at Shadle Park was named Linda Sheridan Court in 2010.

Sheridan died at Hospice House.  She was 65.

Her funeral arrangements have not yet been set.
