SPOKANE-- Police arrested a suspect who reportedly robbed the Washington Trust Bank at Post and 2nd in Spokane Friday morning.
On Friday around 9:15 am Spokane Police responded to the area around the Washington Trust Bank at 706 W 2nd Ave after the bank was robbed.
Police say a man entered the bank demanding money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. A weapon was not displayed.
Day Shift Patrol Officers, Patrol Anti-Crime Team members, and Major Crimes Detectives swarmed the area.
Information gathered brought officers to the Carlyle Hotel at 206 S. Post, just across the street from the bank.
Officers had obtained a surveillance photo of the suspect. A building manager at the Carlyle recognized the suspect and directed officers to a room the suspect rents in the building.
The suspect was located at his apartment and arrested without incident.
Major Crimes detectives executed a search warrant on the suspect’s room locating evidence related to the bank robbery.
David D Thometz, a 49 year old male, was booked for one count of 1st Degree Robbery.
Thometz was arrested in May 2010 for 1st Degree Robbery of another bank in the Spokane area.
