MATTAWA, Wash. -- The Grant County Sheriff’s Office said reports of a general threat made to Wahluke High School in Mattawa led to a limited lockdown Thursday morning.
Authorities said the threat had not been confirmed, however.
Wahluke School District implemented its emergency procedures and was coordinating efforts with the Grant County Sheriff's Office and Mattawa Police Department. The Sheriff’s Office said they would not immediately release specifics of the reported threat.
As precaution, Wahluke Schools implemented a limited lockdown of their schools. Limited lockdown means there is restricted movement within a school campus. These emergency procedures were expected to be in effect for at least the next two days.
In addition the Grant County Sheriff's Office planned to increase patrols around Wahluke Schools.
Wahluke Schools also canceled intramural activities for the next two days along with public use of all district facilities and preschool. Upcoming athletic events may also be canceled or the schedule modified.
