COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho— A group of college students could be in trouble for what happened Saturday at Coeur d’Alene City Park. A witness claimed they saw the Washington State University students urinating in a public park.
A WSU official confirmed Tuesday that they are looking into the claim.
The witness claimed the students were members of the WSU Greek Community. The complaint also included pictures of the students’ actions. The witness said the students wearing Greek letters peed on a wall before getting on a cruise boat.
Hudson’s Hamburger employee Kenny McAnally said he was not surprised by the allegations.
"No, this happens all the time,” said McAnally.
McAnally said it was similar to an incident from October 2012. He said several students who identified themselves as Greek members showed up drunk and disorderly after a cruise.
"They threw up in the bathroom. One of them passed out and they just left her here. They eventually came back up and got her,” said McAnally.
KREM 2 News Facebook fans said a memorial service was happening at the park while the students were peeing.
WSU leaders said they were trying to confirm whether the people involved are WSU students and Greek members. If so, WSU will investigate the witness’s claim. Leaders said the students could be in trouble for violating student conduct codes if the claim is true.
Coeur d’Alene police are not investigating. Department leaders said nobody filed a police report about anyone urinating in the park. KREM 2 News was told that Coeur d’Alene’s Mayor and Police Chief planned to contact WSU to share their concerns.
