SPOKANE, Wash. -- A Washington State University Professor is headed to Washington D.C. to unveil new technology. It is designed to improve safety for police officers and the public.

Bryan Vila will be going to the Innovation conference Tuesday at the White House. He has done a lot of research on how fatigue affects police officers. This is common in many officers because of long hours and odd shifts. It can be a major problem when it comes to making life and death decisions.

Vila's "Be Sharp" app monitors an officer's fatigue and sends alerts to the officer's cell phone telling that person to take precautionary measures.
