PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State University planned to dedicate a building in honor of longtime Seattle-area broadcaster and alumna Kathi Goertzen.
The newest addition to the Edward R. Murrow College of Communications is set to be renamed The Goertzen Communication Addition.
Goertzen took viewers Facebook followers through her fight against brain cancer before her death in 2012.
“Kathy Goertzen was a dear friend and a true inspiration to many of us within the WSU community” said said WSU President Elson S. Floyd. “In dedicating this building to her memory, it is my sincere hope that her steadfast dedication to both WSU and her chosen profession will serve as a continuing inspiration to the generations of students who will follow in her path.”
Goertzen’s closest family and friends planned to be on hand for the dedication ceremony. The dedication was scheduled for 11:30 Saturday morning on the steps of the new building bearing her name.
