Spokane, Wash. -- A father and son were rescued early Sunday morning after they got lost on Mount Spokane.
Park rangers got a call from the pair around 5:00 p.m. Saturday night saying they were lost.
Deputies determined where the call came from and it led them to believe they were on the North side of the mountain.
About 20 volunteers from the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue program responded to the scene. They were able to find the two around 5:00 a.m. Sunday.
Authorities said they had made a fire, stayed in one location and waited for rescuers to find them. They were dressed appropriately and they had food with them.
Search and Rescue volunteers checked the father and son’s medical conditions. They determined they were in good health and it was safe for them to hike off the mountain.
Deputies said if the father and son were not properly prepared they more than likely would not have survived.
