SPOKANE, Wash. – The USA Boxing Championships are back in Spokane for their second year in a four-year contract with Northern Quest Resort & Casino.
More than 200 athletes from across the country arrived to Spokane over the weekend. They are Olympic hopefuls, working to earn a chance to represent the United States in Brazil in 2016.
“They’ve been working very hard all year to get to this point, to nationals, so this is a big deal to them and we’re happy to have them here in Spokane,” Northern Quest Resort & Casino marketing director Julie Holland said. “We hope that our community will really take them under their wing.”
The first matches begin at the HUB in Liberty Lake on Monday at 5 p.m. The USA Boxing Championships continue in Liberty Lake through Wednesday before returning to the Northern Quest Resort & Casino for the finals on Friday and Saturday.
“If you’re not a fan of boxing, maybe this is the first time that you’ll come out and see these world-class athletes performing,” Holland said.
