The anticipation for Gonzaga's 2012-2013 basketball season began immediately following their season-ending loss to Ohio State in the NCAA Tournament. Expectations are high, with an impressive group coming together this season.
On Friday the team held its first official practice of the preseason. Mark Few returns nine players from last year's roster, including five with significant starting experience.
Kevin Pangos - the top returning scorer at 13.6 per game - and Gary Bell Jr. return following strong freshman campaigns in the backcourt. Elias Harris leads the senior class, along with Sam Dower and Guy Landry Edi, who started the last 15 games of his junior season.
The most highly anticipated newcomer will be difficult to miss, with Polish 7-footer Przemek Karnowski expected to help fill the void left by Robert Sacre. Meanwhile, another 7-footer, Kelly Olynyk returns following a redshirt year.
Fans will get their first live glimpse of the team October 20th at Kraziness in the Kennel. Gonzaga hosts Northwest Nazarene University in an exhibition October 27th. They'll tip off the season in the McCarthey Athletic Center Novemeber 9th against Southern Utah.
