SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- Police say they caught two teenage boys allegedly ditching school and racing through Spokane Valley.

Witnesses called police about the two cars driving recklessly on Sullivan near East Valley High School Tuesday afternoon.

One driver told deputies the cars were trying to speed by him when one cut in front of his vehicle. This caused the driver to swerve into a median at Trent.

The witness then allegedly saw both cars race to Wellesley, blow through a stop sign and stop in the high school parking lot.

Police say one of the teens has an instruction permit, and the other was under an intermediate license restriction, which prevents him from having passengers under 20 years old in the car. Both drivers had passengers in their vehicles.

One of the drivers admitted to racing, according to police. Deputies say the other teen told them the 48-year-old witness is too old to know what was happening.

Police cited one boy for reckless driving and for not having a valid license. The other was criminally charged for racing and cited for violating his intermediate license restriction.
