COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho.--- The suspicious device left at Idaho State Police Headquarters in Coeur d’Alene on Thursday was not a threat.

Members of the bomb squad from Spokane found a plastic grocery bag containing two cell phones, some handwritten notes, and garbage. Authorities said the notes contained gibberish.

Nearby roads opened around 3:00 p.m. Authorities has closed Wilbur Ave from Highway 95 to Wheatfield Mineral Drive and asked the public to avoid the area. Parking lots at nearby retail stores were also closed.

Authorities said a suspicious man left the device on the counter at the ISP front desk. The man would not respond to questions asked by ISP employees.

Officers described him as in his late 20s to early 30s, possibly Hispanic with dark hair, and standing 5'9".  He was wearing a black t-shirt, tan shorts, a black baseball cap, black bandanna and small, dark frame sunglasses according to police.

The suspicious man left the building on foot and headed east, toward Highway 95 according to police. Authorities said he was later seen exiting a City Link Bus at Riverstone.

Officers asked anyone with information on the suspicious man to call Coeur d'Alene Police at 769-2320.
