SPOKANE, Wash. -- Police arrested a man overnight for breaking into a Northeast Spokane business by crashing through the roof. Officers booked Paul Chavez for burglary.

Surveillance video showed Chavez falling into the convenience store along Mission near Spokane Community College according to police. The store owner turned over the video to KREM 2 News.

Officers said that Chavez was crawling on the business’ roof around 1:00 a.m. Police said he was trying to break in when the roof gave way and he fell inside the store. The fall triggered the store’s alarm.

Police arrived within five minutes of the alarm. Officers said they sent in a K9 to search the scene and found Chavez.
