Strong winds cause power outages in NE Wash, N. Idaho

SPOKANE -- Strong winds caused numerous power outages across the region Wednesday night.

KREM 2 Chief Meteorologist Tom Sherry said winds gusts up to 40-50 mph were expected overnight. Windy conditions were expected to continue through Thursday morning.

Avista reported hundreds of power outages in the north part of our viewing area including 1,000+ in Chewelah, 100+ in Colville, and around 600+ in Sandpoint, ID.

The power was also out in some pockets of Spokane. Avista reported approximately 75 customers were affected on the South Hill, and 30 were without power in North Central Spokane around 10:00 p.m.
