SPOKANE -One of the biggest shopping days of the year is turning into one of the biggest weeks of the year as the traditional Black Friday sales are starting earlier at many local stores this season.

"A lot of people haven't come out the day after Thanksgiving because of the chaos that it is," said Keat Shankle from the Best Buy in Spokane Valley.

So stores like Best Buy are having pre-Black Friday sales that start now.

"They have the ability to turn around throughout the week and in some cases last week and get some pretty good deals," said Shankle.

James and Marcia Clancy got started on their Black Friday shopping a week early, trying to cash in on some sweet deals.

"We're just checking out prices right now just trying to see what deals are out there," said James.

"I hear they say they may not have a good turnout for Black Friday so why not start early?" said Marcia.

It's not just Best Buy. Other stores like Wal-Mart started having pre-Thanksgiving sales weeks ago.

Black Friday ads have leaked out online weeks earlier than normal in an attempt to get people interested in shopping.

Industry groups expect Black Friday to be strong, but not as strong as past years, with people still worried about the economy and not having a lot of cash to spend.

The economy is in terrible shape..No jobs translate to no shopping. People will he hanging on to their money and not buying on impulse. Pay with cash and set a limit. With credit cards, you are more apt to buy stuff you can live without. Frankly, I am sick of all the xmas advertising on tv and all the hype. Its xmas before thanksgiving ...Years before the merchants got busy advertising a few weeks before xmas.

Yeah..some people can be really stupid to trample over others and not even help them up. Hopefully that doesn't happen this year. It's an unneccesary death that could easily be prevented.
