SEATTLE -- The state says a Pierce County woman charged with insurance fraud tried to trick investigators into thinking her laptop had been stolen by showing them a photo of the computer that was taken the day after she made the report.
The Washington state Insurance Commissioner’s Office said Danielle Patrick, 38, is accused of filing a $1,799 claim with her insurance company, saying her vehicle had been broken into May 13, 2013 at her University Place home. She claimed that one of the six items stolen was her Apple Macbook. But when the insurance company asked for proof she owned the items, Patrick allegedly gave a phony receipt for the computer along with the day-late photo.
In another case, the state has charged Hollyanne E. Davis, 31, of Deer Park after investigators say she filed over $2,800 in false medical insurance claims for herself and her family.
