SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash.-- Authorities said an apparent squatter created nearly $100,000 in damage to the old Chung Hua Garden building near the intersection of East Sprague Avenue and North Greenacres Road in Spokane Valley.

Spokane Valley Sheriff’s deputies discovered the damage on Sunday, while responding to a burglary call.

The new owner of the building said the last time he visited the building was two weeks prior and it was in the same condition that he purchased it in according to deputies.  Authorities said it was obvious that someone had been living there, but that they had stolen most of the copper plumbing wiring and stainless steel appliances from inside the building.

The Spokane Valley Police Department did not have any suspects, as of Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or to email them here.  Authorities are offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.
