$35,000 bond? That's comforting. So he has to put up what, 10% of that?

I agree the bond should be more but, the stupid S___t probably can not afford that any way that is why he was in on trying to rob the place in the first place I would bet.

ITS EASY TO JUDGE WHEN YOU DONT KNOW THE WHOLE STORY... WHAT HAPPENED TO INNOCENT TILL PROVEN GUILTY. JOEY HAS MADE SOME REALLY HORRIBLE CHOICES NO DOUBT.....I HAVE THE MONEY TO PUT UP... BUT WONT THERE IS A LESSON TO BE LEARNED HERE. AND JOEY IS NOT A STUPID S------------ HE IS MY SON. HE HAS A FAMILY THAT LOVES HIM AND WILL STAND BEHIND HIM. RIGHT NOW HE JUST NEEDS TO DO THE RIGHT THING.

Sounds like 'Joeysmom' didn't do a good job raising him. Maybe if she "did the right thing" while raising him and showed him how to "do the right thing", Joey wouldn't be in jail for 'allegedly' robbing businesses. You can take your caps lock off, you dont have to yell at us like you yelled at your son when he was a kid.

Why are you blaming the mother for a 24 year olds mistakes? Even if by some chance she did make parenting mistakes (as everyone does since there's no such thing as a perfect parent), he is now 24 years old and is perfectly capable of making his own decisions. From the sounds of it she and her family are going through enough right now and don't need people like you judging them. If he is found guilty then pass your judgement on him, not the mother.

For what it's worth, here is how that whole bond thing works. Bond in this case is set at $35,000. That means if the family comes up with 10% of that, $3,500 in case, the bondsman while post a bond with the court, promising to come up with the full $35,000 should the defendent default. Default means like skipping out on court. Now you can be sure the bondsman is not going to risk losing the remaining $31,500. So how does the protect his investment? By requiring the family to post additional collateral, such as real property (their house) or something else the bondsman feels is worth taking the risk on. In fact, in most cases, if you sit in court and listen to the criminal proceedings you will here the judge order something like, "Bond is set at $35,000 bond, $3,500 cash."

Since you asked, or are going to ask.... The difference between bail and bond is this..... With a bail, the person posting it has the option of requesting that money be returned to them, once the case has been resolved. Not once the defendent next appears in court. Crminal proceeding drag out for many months, requiring the defendent to appear multiple times. One missed court date can result in a warrant being issued and the bail being forefited. In truth, the bail or a portion of it is applied to a legal financial obligations or the LFO's of the defendent. On the other hand, the money you pay to a bondsman they keep. Thats the cost of doing business. So it may cost you a little less up front, but you go in knowing you are never going to get that money back. Now you know the rest of the story.

A crime like this is no doubt related, in some way, to drugs. If we are to make Spokane County a safe place to live and raise families we must do something. An easy way to help is to contact your legislature and let them know that cuts in helping get people off drugs is making the public susceptible to such crimes. For every $1 we spend now on getting people off drugs we save taxpayers $7-10 later in police work, courts, jail, emergency rooms, etc. This is a documented fact. Go to http://apps.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder/ and send an email it really is easy to do.

To be honest, I really do not care what the "full story" is. Anyone involved in an armed robbery should be locked up for much longer than these guys will be. I am glad to see that these scums are starting to be caught. Spokane has really gone downhill in the last year.

Joeysmom....you (very loudly) say "What happened to innocent till proven guilty" in one breath...and then say that you could bond him out but won't because he needs to "learn a lesson." Sounds like YOU know his involvement! Time to face the fact that sonny boy is a dirtbag...and stop YELLING at everyone else about it.
