SPOKANE, Wash.--The man who admitted to a fatal shooting last year at the Days Inn faced consequences Wednesday night.
Kevin Heaton told officers he shot Paul Haney in the back after Haney allegedly robbed him.
Heaton shot him in the back from a balcony as Haney was running away according to Heaton.
Heaton claimed self defense and prosecutors bought it. He is a felon and nearly a year after the fatal shooting, he was charged with felon in possesion of a firearm.
He plead guilty Wednesday to burglary, possession of meth with intent to distribute, intimidating a witness and felon in possession of a gun.
Heaton will serve 41 months in jail.
