SPOKANE, Wash. -- Flames erupted from Spokane apartments after a fire broke out inside one of the units.

It started around 10 a.m. near Mission and Cincinnati.

One woman was inside when the flames broke out. Her husband Bill Cox just left home when he heard someone shout about the fire.

“She didn’t have her shoes on and she was trying to get pictures. I said, ‘We have to get out of here.’ So I grabbed her, and I grabbed her house slippers and threw them on. I basically had to pull her out of the house,” Cox said.

The building is a house converted into four individual units. The flames were mostly contained to the top two apartments. This prevented crews from tackling the flames from the roof, but they were able to make it to the second story to battle the fire.

No one was injured.

The cause remains under investigation.
