Spokane Valley Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 12900 block of East Cataldo for a residential burglary call. Authorities found the caller behind his home with a suspect detained.
The complainant told deputies that around 9:30 p.m. he was watching TV in the living room when he heard the back sliding glass door open. He walked out to the kitchen and saw a person run out of the room. The suspect left out of the sliding glass door.
The homeowner said he chased two suspects through two yards when he saw them trying to hide under a truck. He said he tried to get them out from under the truck but one suspect ran.

Fitzgerald-Butcher told deputies that he and a friend went into the home through the sliding glass door. He said they were looking to steal cigarettes and admitted it was “stupid.”
