SPOKANE, Wash. -- All 34 Spokane Public Schools planned to offer full-day kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school year.
Spokane Schools spent the summer preparing for the transition, including hiring 20 new teachers.
“…We've had it all lined up,” said Spokane Public Schools Community Relations Director Erica Hallock.
“We're all ready to go. We have the curriculum set up, we're just ready to start executing - we're ready for the kids,” she said. “We're excited to have the kids and get things going."
The District was also anticipating a spike in registration now that full-day kindergarten classes are offered.
To ease parents and kids into the transition, the first week of school will only be half-day classes. The first full day of Kindergarten was set for September 9.
