SPOKANE, Wash. -- A Spokane Police SWAT team and the Targeted Crimes Unit raided two homes Friday in connection with five Craigslist robberies since March.
Authorities raided one home near Altamont and Desmet. The other home was located near Parkhill and Cincinnati.
Officials said the victims of these robberies posted products on Craigslist and the suspects arranged to meet with them in a park to purchase the items. When the victims arrived at the locations, they were robbed.
Most of the stolen items were Macbooks. Authorities said the victims were not necessarily injured but weapons were displayed.
Authorities raided two locations, one in the city and one in the county. A neighbor said he heard loud banging on the door Friday morning. “I thought it was our door,” Jason Colwell said, “scared the hell out of me! I ran downstairs and saw SWAT cars, cops everywhere.”
Spokane Police arrested a 17-year-old man for three counts of first degree robbery. Officials are still looking for Curtis Cyrus, 20, who is also wanted for one count of first degree robbery.
“We want people to be aware that there are people in Spokane who could and will take advantage of you and to be safe,” said SPD Detective Lydia Taylor. “But now we have two less of those people on the streets.”
Spokane Police said if you plan to sell items on Craigslist and meet up with buyers you should go to a very public place and bring a friend.
