SPOKANE, Wash.-- Spokane Police officers arrested a 15-year-old boy for shooting out a car window near Whitman Elementary on Monday.

Officers also arrested a second suspect, Tanner Caldwell.  Police said the 18-year-old was booked for three counts of first degree assault based on the fact that two children were in the back seat of the victim’s vehicle during the incident.

Investigators said it started around 3:15 p.m. while a mother was parked near the school on the 5400 block of N. Helena.  Police said a truck with two suspects in it started yelling at the mother saying she was blocking the road.

A verbal argument ensued and the male passenger in the truck pulled out a firearm and shot the rear window of the victim’s car, according to authorities.  The truck driver then sped away from the scene.

The woman was able to give police the license plate and a good description of the suspect vehicle.

About 30 minutes later, officers located the vehicle and detained two males they believed were involved in the incident.  Authorities planned to search the suspect vehicle once a search warrant was approved.

The boy arrested was booked into Juvenile for 1st Assault, according to police.
