SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- The Spokane City Council praised a zombie apocalypse at Monday night's meeting with a resolution saluting the producers of the "Z-Nation" TV show for filming in the city this summer.

The 13-episode series employs about 300 crew and cast members plus 1,300 extras -- many local residents.

Producer Rich Cowan thanked the council Monday by giving each member authentic zombie brains.

“Z Nation,” set three years after a zombie apocalypse decimated the U.S., follows the journey of the only known survivor of the zombie plague travelling from New York to California where scientists hope to retrieve antibodies from his blood to create a vaccine. The series is being filmed at various locations around Spokane to represent a large swath of the nation.

"Z-Nation" is scheduled to air this fall on the Syfy Network.
