SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash.-- Department of Natural Resources workers confirmed Thursday that flames tore through a barn Thursday near Starr Road and Elder.

A plume of smoke from the South Spokane County Fire could be seen for miles according to witnesses. The barn was engulfed with flames when fire crews arrived on scene and had spread to nearby brush.

Fire crews initially believed it was a brush fire from the large plume of smoke. They arrived on scene to find the barn burning.
