SPOKANE-- Winter weather swept across the Inland Northwest Saturday, leaving a traffic mess.
Spokane police said at least 125 wrecks were reported from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. throughout Spokane and Spokane County. They call that a relatively short amount of time for that number of collisions considering the amount of snow.
At least nine vehicles were involved in several collisions along Freya on Spokane’s South Hill. Police said vehicles continued to stack up against each other. Four were involved in one pileup, another vehicle rolled over, in additon to other incidents.
In one of the wrecks, a pickup truck slid off of Freya and drove into a yard. It hit the porch and damaged some furniture. No one was injured.
The problem reached beyond Spokane. Highway 195 was closed from the Idaho border to south of Pullman, as well as sections of Bigelow Gulch and Hatch.
Highway 195 is currently closed in both directions from Roslia to Spangle.
